Should I use T8 or T5 Lighting?
We feel T8 lamps provide a better quality of light with less glare in areas where the fixture height is lower than 25 feet and provide a better Lumen per Watt ratio. The T5 lamp delivers a brighter light source within a smaller diameter allowing to design the reflector with better optic precision. They are referred to as "Glare Bombs" at lower ceiling heights. As a general rule of thumb, a T5 fixture should be used in applications above 30 feet and T8 fixtures below 25 feet.
There is a gap between 25 and 30-foot heights where either T8 or T5 fixtures can be used successfully. The biggest exception to the rule is; ALWAYS USE T8 LIGHTING IN COLD ENVIRONMENTS!
